One of the great joys of my life is making books with my sister, Laura Kvasnosky, a rockstar in children's books writing and illustrating. If is so special to work with my sister. Our three books share our love of nature with kids. The first two introduce them to Yellowstone's landscape and very noisy! inhabitants from early, early morning to late at night. Our third is a quiet sleepy time poem that transports the reader to a beach in the tropics and visits the marine life above and below the tideline.
Squeak! IS IN BOOKSTORES AND ONLINE!

In this story, a mouse’s squeak sets off a chain reaction that wakes all the animals in the surrounding meadows and mountains. My sister Laura wrote the book. We illustrated it together. She painted the illustrations in black and white gouache resist in Seattle, scanned and sent them to me. I then colored them digitally in Photoshop, as we did for Little Wolf’s First Howling. Gotta love the internet!

![]() American Anthem
We were one of 13 illustrators asked to contribute to the new book, American Anthem, whose text will be the lyrics from the song. Our community garden page spread illustrates the stanza:
For those who think
They have nothing to share Who fear in their hearts There is no hero there Know each quiet act Of dignity is That which fortifies The soul of a nation That never dies |
